Select Program

The York Mills Hockey Club provides an opportunity to participate in a higher level of competitive hockey through participation in the North York Hockey League House League Select Program. Select teams are chosen from players participating in the YMHC House league and enjoy the following benefits:

- additional ice time for tryouts and weekly practices
- exhibition games with NYHL teams and outside competition
- NYHL league games from mid-October through to the end of February
- playoff round beginning March through the end of April
- tournament opportunities throughout the year

North York Hockey League select program is now a non contact league. This restriction includes any tournaments that our YM select teams participate in.

Players who make a select team are required to play on their house league team on a regular basis. Failure to do so may jeopardize the player's position on the Select team. Select players are required to pay additional fees over and above those charged by the House League to offset the costs of additional ice time, league fees, uniforms and tournaments. Ages are as of December 31, each year. For players who hope to make the Select team, please contact the appropriate select coach for further information.

In order to ensure participation and to help coaches schedule Select try-outs, we ask those interested to please PRE-REGISTER for Select try-outs complete the Select the participant question when completing the questions in the Hockey Canada online registry. Try-outs will be scheduled prior to the commencement of House league play. Select team staff will contact you when scheduling is confirmed.

The select season, including try-outs, exhibition, league and tournament play generally runs from early October to mid April each year.

YMHC takes great pride in the determination, skill and sportsmanship exhibited by York Mills select teams. It is through the efforts of the players, dedicated volunteer coaches and team staff that YMHC teams have developed the reputation for competing at a high level.

If you have questions, please contact the appropriate select coach.
