July 1, 2020 Season Status Update:
Many of you are asking what YMHC’s plans are for the 2020 house league season.
In order for YMHC to confirm our intentions for the 2020 season a few things must happen:
- The City of Toronto and the GTHL must announce their “Return to Play” protocols. At this time, they have not confirmed their guidelines. We will advise you when this happens.
- YMHC must then review these guidelines, implement required procedures, and then complete the registration process.
- Based on the timing of these announcements and the number of registrants YMHC will then make final decisions about the start date and length of the season, finalize our divisional structure and general schedule.
If YMHC is not able to offer a full season of play, we will issue full or applicable refunds based on the length of the season.
YMHC intends to offer our annual Used Equipment Drive and Apparel program, subject to the above.
In connection with the YMHC 2020 / 2021 season we are seeking additional players in all age groups especially players age 6 born 2014, age 7 born 2013, age 8 born 2012, age 10 born 2010, and ages 12 to 17 born 2008 to 2003. Interested parents should contact YMHC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
New for the 2020 / 2021 season: YMHC Referral Credit. Parents who refer a new player to YMHC are eligible to receive a $25 credit. For full details - please click here.
YMHC guaranteed registration period for the 2020 / 2021 season for RETURNING players begins Monday April 13, 2020 and ends Sunday April 19, 2020. Registration for returning players continues after Sunday April 19, 2020 however failure to complete registration by Sunday April 19, 2020, including new siblings, means that you are not guaranteed placement for the 2020 / 2021 season should you register afterwards.
In recognition of the challenges resulting from COVID-19 YMHC advises that registration fees across all house league programs have been reduced by $50. For the 2020 / 2021 season, provided you register between Monday April 13 and Tuesday September 1 the YMHC house league fees are as follows: Under 14 (Minor Bantam (age 13)) and younger: $675 (reduced from $725 / includes practice); Under 15 (Bantam (age 14)) and older $550 (reduced from $600) and Learn to Play: $275 (reduced form $325. For late registrations (except Learn to Play), made on or after Wednesday September 2, 2020 the fee increases by $50. In addition to a reduction in fees YMHC has also implemented a 4-tranche payment process across all programs for the 2020 season. The initial registration fee across all YMHC programs will be $25. The balance of fees will be equally split and automatically charged to your credit card on the 1st of July, August and September 2020. Failure to all payments means that registration into YMHC for the 2020 / 2021 season will be nullified.
Registration for RETURNING YMHC players will take place using the Hockey Canada registration system. Please - Click Here.
Preregistration for NEW players (players who have never played previously with YMHC), SIBLINGS of existing players and Learn to Play participants takes place initially by email starting Saturday April 11, 2020 at 9am. Respect in Sport Parent Program: Commencing with the 2016 / 2017 season the Ontario Hockey Federation mandated that at least one parent / guardian of all players (house league, select and rep) must complete the Respect in Sport Parent Program. This mandate means that players may not participate in any YMHC on ice activity (try-out / practice / game) until this requirement has been completed. In connection with the 2020 / 2021 season this requirement applies only to parents / players who have never previously participated in the GTHL or completed same with YMHC. For more information – Please Click Here.
Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity: Commencing with the 2017 / 2018 season, the Ontario Hockey Federation mandated that all bench staff associated with house league, select and rep play must take a new mandatory training module to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario - Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression. This is a one time (not annual) requirement. To take this course - please click here.
Rowan's Law: On July 1, 2019 the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport mandated that every player and bench staff must read and acknowledge Rowan's Law in order to participate in organized sport. For more information - please click here.
